UPDATEX

(01-11-1993 5:08pm UPDATEX.EXE)
Usage: FileList1 FileList2 LastUpdate
UPDATEX is a utility for updating files between two machines via
disk, tape, or communications link.
UPDATEX (Update Xmit (transmit)) reads the files named
FileList1 and FileList2. These files are assumed to be output
from WHEREIS with the /V option, in the form:
828 12-30-1992 7:00:54pm ---R C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
(Note: columns must line up exactly)
Files are assumed to be in alphabetical order by file name.
FileList1 is the source, FileList2 is the destination,
LastUpdate is a file with date and time corresponding to the
last time the updates were performed.
Files in FileList1 are compared with FileList2
(drive letters ignored), and three files named:
NEWER1, NEWER2, DELETE1.BAT and DELETE2.BAT are generated such that:
NEWER1 contains file names from FileList1 which are either
not found in FileList2 or are newer than FileList2
(copy these from source to destination)
NEWER2 contains file names from FileList2 which are newer than
FileList1, or not found in FileList1 and newer than last update.
(copy these from destination to source)
DELETE1.BAT contains file names from FileList1 which are not found
in FileList1 and are older than last update.
(delete these from source)
DELETE2.BAT contains file names from FileList2 which are not found
in FileList1 and are older than last update.
(delete these from destination)
